An upper ridge of high pres will remain near or over the area through the weekend. A couple of weak frontal systems will try to break down the ridge thursday and again saturday night, but these will bring just a chance of showers to mainly the olympic peninsula. inland areas will likely remain dry. The ridge will noticeably amplify monday and tuesday, giving above normal temperatures.

SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/

Isolated showers continue on the coast and in the southwest. Satellite imagery shows mostly clear skies off the coast, and as an upper ridge builds over the region tonight, both the showers and most clouds should dissipate. a weak weather system will flatten the upper ridge on thursday, increasing cloud cover but probably not raining anywhere inland. The forecast has slight chance or chance3 pops over about the northwest third of the area. Highs thursday will be in the mid 50s.

The upper ridge will sharpen and amplify on friday, allowing for considerably more sun and highs 55-60. Another weak system will impinge on the ridge saturday and saturday night. The gfs and euro exhibit significant differences, with the gfs bringing a definite trough through the area, with a little rain everywhere, while the euro shows merely a weakness in the upper ridge and is mostly dry. for now have limited pops to the coast and dried things out completely on sunday as the upper ridge rebuilds. This does make the temperature forecast problematic. Highs around 60 on saturday seems like a decent middle path, followed by low 60s sunday. Burke

LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/

All models have a sharp and strong upper ridge over western washington on monday. Both monday and tuesday will have temperatures well above normal, in the 60s with perhaps some spots touching 70 in offshore surface flow. The ridge will drift away to the northeast by wednesday, allowing a little cooling but still keeping any rain at bay. Burke
