03:00 PM Thursday March 14

An upper ridge will remain near or over the area through early next week. A couple of weak fronts will dent the ridge tonight and again saturday night. The ridge will strengthen monday and tuesday, giving well above normal temperatures.

SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/

Satellite imagery shows what looks like a front off the coast, but it is apparently as weak as forecast. No small craft advisory winds have yet been reported, and kuil has so far received a whopping 0.01 inch. The front is forecast to lose strength quickly with little if any precipitation making it into the interior. At 2 pm ksea reached 53 degrees, which is normal for this date. This would not be noteworthy except for the fact that seattle has not reached its normal high temperature since february 1.

The upper ridge will rebuild and gain some amplitude over the area on friday. This combined with a little more low level offshore flow will further boost temperatures, mainly into the 55-60 range but with some spots likely to break 60 degrees. There should be sunshine as well, especially over the south.

The upper ridge will move east on saturday and weaken somewhat as a front approaches. Weak low level offshore flow will continue. High temperatures will be similar to friday`s. High clouds will increase saturday afternoon and then clouds will thicken and lower saturday night as the weak front dissipates over the area. Models differ on the details--the euro and canadian have been showing this front will be dry, while the gfs has been waffling. For now have chosen to limit pops to the coast and olympics saturday afternoon and night.

The upper ridge is forecast to sharpen and amplify beginning sunday. this will result in a dry day, with plenty of sun, and highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Burke

LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/

A strong upper ridge will remain over the area monday and tuesday, with offshore surface flow. skies will be sunny and highs will be in the 60s, with some low 70s possible in spots. The upper high drifts away to the northeast later tuesday and wednesday, allowing for some cooling, but wednesday should still be dry, with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Models are in good agreement. Southerly flow aloft returns around thursday, with increasing clouds and a chance of showers. Highs will still be in the 55-60 range. Burke
